Canadian painter Pierre-Léon Rivard was born in Montreal on June 4, 1947. He began painting at the early age of 12, his talent soon catching the eye of painter Georges Widiez who helped him perfect his technique.
In the late 1960s, after obtaining a Bachelor of Arts degree, a teaching certificate and a Bachelor of Education degree, Léon took on the position of teacher at a public school while continuing to pursue his passion-painting. In 1975, he gave up his teaching post to open his own painting school, where he has been sharing his experience and love of painting with hundreds of students for more than two decades.
Over the years, Léon has had numerous showings, not only in Montreal but throughout the province of Quebec. In 1982, his exhibitions took him to Switzerland where he was warmly welcomed and where he has had many showings since.
Today Léon continues to teach and exhibit his works, while pursuing his never-ending quest for beauty and light in his paintings.
